Investigate Perdana Fellow over alleged dubious qualifications: alumni association

A Perdana Fellow in the International Trade and Industry Ministry was thrust into the spotlight by netizens dubious of his qualifications

KUALA LUMPUR – The Perdana Fellows Alumni Association has expressed its deep concern following the recent allegations involving an individual who was selected as a Perdana Fellow in its current batch 11, Year 2023.

In a statement today, association president Syed Mohd Arif said that while the association does not possess the authority to conduct background checks on applicants during the selection process, it firmly believes that the selection process for the Perdana Fellow Programme must remain fair, transparent, and merit-based.

“The primary purpose of the association is to function as a community for the programme’s alumni and, thus, foster continuous engagement and development.

“In light of these allegations, the Perdana Fellows Alumni Association has submitted an official letter to the relevant authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into this matter.”

He added that the association is dedicated to upholding the integrity and reputation of the Perdana Fellow Programme, with the aim of providing young talents with opportunities for personal and professional growth through participation in policy advocacy discussions and gaining insights into youth development agendas within their respective ministries.

Syed Mohd’s comments come after a Perdana Fellow who was placed under the International Trade and Industry Ministry (Miti) was thrust into the spotlight by netizens, due to several apparent inconsistencies with his credentials.
