Save Malaysia rally set to march on Sogo mall, Dataran Merdeka

Organisers are also planning to go to the Dang Wangi district police headquarters to lodge a report on the unity government

2:17 PM MYT

KUALA LUMPUR – Most of the 200-strong crowd at the Kg Baru mosque are members of the media and police personnel, rather than participants of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) fronted Save Malaysia rally, here today.

A source on the ground told Scoop that the rally-goers will be marching from the Kg Baru mosque to Sogo shopping complex and Dataran Merdeka later today.

“We will ensure that the gathering is done peacefully.

“There will not be any protests, we just want to exercise our objection to the unity government’s decision, which contradicts its principles of integrity and fighting corruption.”

In addition, the organisers are planning to head to the Dang Wangi district police headquarters to lodge a report urging the authorities to investigate the unity government and Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s recent dismissal not amounting to acquittal (DNAA).

“Most probably we will start marching from the Kg Baru mosque to Sogo and Dataran Merdeka. After that, we will head to Dang Wangi.

“I’m not sure which leader will be lodging the police report but this involves the PN leadership,” another source told Scoop.

The gathering is expected to see the participation of several opposition leaders, besides its youth wing and members of the public.

Meanwhile, almost two dozen police officers are on standby here.

The rally’s organisers have also reiterated that the gathering will be conducted peacefully and “with full constitutional spirit”, urging participants to conduct themselves in an orderly manner during the rally.

Yesterday, the police rejected an application to hold the rally, following the omission of certain details by the organisers in their submission. – September 16, 2023

Why is there a monopoly of rice in Malaysia ? — Remy Majangkim

Before the formation of Malaysia, rice was basically state affairs, but as times went on, the rice industry in Malaysia was hijacked by the federal government as it saw fit and included in a federal act that ultimately disbanded the Sabah Padi Board, paving the way for a capitalist corporation to have a complete monopoly.
