Govt approved RM256 mil for project on 78.8ha area, with 19ha for stadium site alone

KOTA BHARU – Work on the site preparation for the Bukit Merbau Stadium Complex project in Pasir Puteh, which is one of the locations for the 2028 Malaysia Games (Sukma) in Kelantan has reached 20.28%.

State Youth, Sports, Non-Governmental Organisation and Community Unity Committee chairman Zamakhshari Muhammad said the site preparation work for the sports complex is set to be completed by October next year.

“The project area is 78.8ha and the stadium site alone is 19ha. The rest is a mixed development in the project area,” he said when contacted by Bernama today.

Under the 12th Malaysia Plan, the federal government has approved a development expenditure allocation of RM256 million for the construction of the Bukit Merbau Sports Complex through several facility components.

Zamakhshari said the people of Kelantan have high hopes for the sports complex as it will surely be able to drive the state’s sports performance to a higher level.

“Thank you to the central government, especially the Youth and Sports Ministry, for their cooperation in making the construction of the Bukit Merbau Sports Complex a success,” he said. – September 21, 2023
