Fire razes classrooms in Penang school

No one hurt in blaze that firefighters put out in about half an hour

7:48 PM MYT

KUALA LUMPUR – Three classrooms were destroyed after a blaze engulfed the third floor of a primary school in Penang this evening.

According to an initial incident report by the Penang Fire and Rescue Department’s operations centre, a distress call was placed at 6.02pm.

Operations officer Abd Manap Kadir said fire and rescue personnel managed to quell the flames in about 30 minutes.

Besides the three classrooms, two classrooms were partially damaged in the fire, while no one was hurt.

A source told Scoop that students had left the school earlier today after collecting their report cards. – September 22, 2023
