Komuter service disruption causes one-hour delay, riles passengers

Trains on Batu Caves-Sg Gadut route delayed due to power cuts

9:42 PM MYT

KUALA LUMPUR – KTM Komuter services on the Batu Caves-Sg Gadut route suffered delays that stretched to an hour following power cuts between the Seremban and Batang Benar stations this evening.

In a statement via Facebook at 7pm, the national railway company stated that its trains No. 2049 and No. 2050 are expected to experience up to an hour’s delay from their scheduled time due to the disruption.

Subsequently, Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd at 8.18pm stated while electrical services has been restored between both train stations, the delay from the original schedule remains and applies to Train No. 2049 from Batu Caves-Pulau Sebang (90 minutes); Train No. 2603 from Sentul-Pulau Sebang (76 minutes); Train No. 2055 from Batu Caves-Pulau Sebang (55 minutes); Train No. 2057 from Batu Caves-Pulau Sebang (30 minutes) and Train No. 2059 from Batu Caves-Sg Gadut (18 minutes).

The Komuter service, known for its disruptions, saw people share their frustrating experience via Facebook and X, formerly Twitter – having been stuck in train coaches due to the temporary service shutdown.

Under KTM’s Facebook post, a commenter named Kuganeswary Murugesu said that the issue with KTM trains is never-ending and that he always has to stop at Bangi.

“I’ve already boarded the train and am on the way to Bandar Tasik Selatan when the announcement was made. How could I make plans?

“If we were informed earlier, at least we could have planned to take the bus from Kuala Lumpur, when will this issue be resolved?” he asked.

People took their complaints to X as well as they waited for the trains to start moving again.

“The KTM train was stuck near Seremban for so long without light and aircond. Please do something, I feel sorry for my friend who is suffocating (in the train),” said an X user with the username “ntsyamcflurry_”.

“Why the sudden stop at Batang Benar for almost one hour? Why isn’t there any aircond? How long do we have to wait here? I feel bad for the senior citizens stuck in the heat,” said another X user who goes by “_asnida”.
