JDT embraces cutting-edge hybrid grass technology for upgraded pitch

KUALA LUMPUR – Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) Football Club is currently in the process of upgrading the pitch at the Tan Sri Dato Haji Hassan Yunos Stadium in Larkin to a hybrid type of grass.

In a statement today, the club said that it is in the midst of installing the hybrid turf at all of the club’s facilities.

“A new hybrid pitch is being laid out at our stadium in Larkin, and after analysing the results, the hybrid turf will be installed at all our facilities.

“The hybrid football pitch will be the first of its kind in Malaysian football,” read the statement.

The club also noted that hybrid grass is a new technology being used around the world.

“This hybrid grass is a combination of artificial grass and real grass.

“It is a modern technology used in many foreign countries,” the statement added.

Hybrid grass has been around for many years and has proven its worth to various football and rugby clubs worldwide.

This technology combines the playability of natural grass with the strength of synthetic turf, shortening recovery time, and increasing the number of playing hours on a pitch.

This type of grass is actually known by many names, such as Xtragrass or even ‘Reinforce Natural Grass,’ and has been widely used by 80% of the English Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur.

The Tan Sri Dato Haji Hassan Yunos pitch, which was once the home ground for JDT, is now being used by JDT 2.

JDT 2 is at the tops of the Malaysia Premier League with 42 points after 18 games. – October 19, 2023
