Cherry delivers triple golden treat at Mallorca Dance Festival

The 18-year-old dancer shines in World DanceSport Federation Competitions, bringing glory to Kuala Lumpur Dancesport Association

10:39 PM MYT

KUALA LUMPUR — National dancer Cherry Yeo Xiao Wei dazzled her way to three gold medals in the Mallorca Dance Festival (MDF) in Spain over the weekend.

The 18-year-old came out tops in both the World DanceSport Federation (WDSF) youth solo female Latin and adult solo female Latin as well as the MDF youth solo female Latin disciplines.

Her remarkable feat did not stop there as the Kuala Lumpur Dancesport Association (KLDSA) member also contributed a bronze in the MDF adult solo female Latin discipline.

Four other dancers from KLDSA — Yap Wan Xin, Madeleine Lau Yu Xuan, Nicole Lim Le Wei and Taraneh Ahmadi Zeidabadi — also took part in the festival.

Madeleine won bronze in the MDF junior ll female solo Latin, while Nicole won bronze in the MDF youth female solo Latin.

The KLDSA, in a statement today, attributed Cherry Yeo’s outstanding achievement to the excellent guidance she received from her two coaches — Chua Zjen Fong and Evon Chong.

Meanwhile, Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh took to her Facebook page to congratulate Cherry Yeo on her splendid performance in Spain. — November 13, 2023
