Former coach takes matter to court as amicable settlement falters

IPOH – Embattled Perak FC are prepared to go to court to address the salary arrears demand from former coach Datuk Lim Teong Kim, whose contract was prematurely terminated by the club. 

Despite failed attempts at an amicable settlement in the industrial court, Perak FC chief executive Bobie Farid Shamsudin revealed that the club are awaiting the court’s decision.

“We cannot comment on matters that are in court because it may interfere with the legal process when the case comes up in court. 

“Whatever the decision, let the court decide through the legal process because we have already gone through the first initiative of an amicable settlement. 

“Since that process did not succeed, we will accept whatever decision made by the court,” said Bobie.

On November 11, Teong Kim’s lawyer, Adam Yap Boon Han, confirmed that the dispute over the former Akademi Mokhtar Dahari director’s salary arrears would be taken to the industrial court. 

In the same statement, the lawyer said legal action was the best way to break the deadlock between both parties, a move signifying a shift from the previously attempted amicable resolution.

Bobie clarified that during discussions, Perak FC had extended an offer, but Teong Kim did not accept the proposed settlement. 

“Perak FC made an offer, but he (Teong Kim) did not accept. For Perak FC, we don’t have a problem. 

“If he had accepted our offer, the issue would have been settled,” he said. – November 18, 2023
