Missing man with mental disabilities found dead in drain in Kg Koh

Manjung police chief says victim was discovered face-down, case classified as sudden death while awaiting post-mortem

IPOH – The body of a 42-year-old man with mental disabilities who was reported missing two days ago, was found floating in a drain at Jalan Pasir Panjang Kg Koh, near Sitiawan, today. 

Manjung police chief Mohamed Nordin Abdullah said that the police received information on the discovery through a report lodged by the public at about 5pm today. 

“Preliminary investigations found that the victim was found lying face down and stuck in the drain pipe. 

“The police sought help from the Fire and Rescue Department to lift the body out of the 4m-depth drain,” he said in a statement tonight. 

He said the victim’s body was taken to the forensic unit of Seri Manjung Hospital for Covid-19 screening and a post-mortem to determine the cause of death. 

“The case has been classified as a sudden death report. People who have any information about the incident are asked to contact the nearest police station or call the operations room of the Manjung district police headquarters at 05-688 6222,” he said. – December 15, 2023
