Cops seek witnesses with video recordings of hit-and-run that killed Form 5 student

Authorities say no one has yet come forward with video evidence to help investigators

IPOH – The police are still waiting for witnesses with video recordings, either from dashcam or CCTV, of the accident in which a 17-year-old student, Muhammad Zaharif Affendy Muhd Zamrie, was killed when hit by a car driven by a senior police officer in Meru, to facilitate investigations of the case.

Perak police chief Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said that so far, no one with such evidence has come forward to assist investigations.

“We are still waiting, whoever has dashcam, CCTV or others, whoever has that (evidence) we will accept,” he said when contacted by Bernama.

He also advised the public and social media users not to make any speculation about the accident.

A 44-year-old police officer has been arrested and is on remand until tomorrow to assist the police investigation. – December 17, 2023
