KUALA LUMPUR – Police have continued their investigations 11 days after the murder of 6-year-old autistic child Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin, at the Idaman Apartments, Damansara Damai, in Petaling Jaya, today.

The Royal Malaysia Police’s (PDRM) forensics unit were seen arriving at the location at 9.30am, believed to be seeking for new evidence, before postponing their work at 12.30pm.

According to Berita Harian, the unit resumed its investigations at 3pm, focused at Block R, the last location where Zayn Rayyan was seen alive.

Yesterday, Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan reportedly said the process to collect evidence is being done intensively, especially at the apartment block where the victim was staying.

“We have recorded the testimony of 172 people so far involving parents, witnesses, neighbours and the general public,” he had said.

Zayn Rayyan’s body was found on December 6, some 100m from his residence, a day after he was reported missing.

Subsequently, the police reclassified the case, from a missing person to a murder.

Meanwhile, Hussein Omar also believes a single individual was responsible for Zayn Rayyan’s death, based on evidence and injuries on the victim’s neck and body. – December 17, 2023
