KUALA LUMPUR – The area in Taman Wawasan, Puchong, where a landslide occurred in front of houses on Saturday evening, is still experiencing soil movement, according to Serdang police.

Serdang police chief assistant commissioner A.A. Anbalagan said the situation still posed a danger to houses nearby.

He said soil movement was detected yesterday afternoon by authorities on the scene doing remedial works.

The soil movement had also caused cement at the front of some houses to crumble as a result, he added.

Of the ongoing work to install 375 iron piles to stabilise the area, 46 piles had been placed so far, he also said.

Additionally, one of the vehicles, a Honda City, that had fallen into the crater caused by the landslide, has also been lifted out using a crane.

The landslide occurred at a road embankment in front of houses on Jalan Wawasan 3/9 on Saturday at 7.26pm, following heavy rainfall.

The collapsed embankment took a chunk of road along with it and caused a gaping hole right at the front gates of some homes.

No one was injured although four vehicles were damaged.

Nine households were ordered to evacuate, and structural assessment of other homes in the area is ongoing.

Anbalagan was also reported as saying that the temporary evacuation shelter opened by the Subang Jaya City Council at Dewan Laman Puteri 3 has been closed as of last night, as the families who had vacated their homes for safety had chosen not to use the shelter. – December 18, 2023
