Founder Sarina Sundara Rajah says the contribution helps her nurture young talents, fortifies club’s commitment to Safe Sport advocacy

10:00 AM MYT

KUALA LUMPUR – Sarina Rhythmic Gymnastics Club (SRGC) has received support from Hollywood icon and Oscar-winning actress, Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh.

Acknowledging the backing received earlier this month, SRGC founder and former rhythmic gymnast Sarina Sundara Rajah, expressed how the contribution serves not only to fuel her dedication to nurturing young talents but also fortifies the club’s commitment to Safe Sport advocacy.

The unexpected endorsement from Michelle is seen as a pivotal achievement for SRGC, enhancing its standing within the rhythmic gymnastics community and marking a significant milestone in its journey.

“It came as a pleasant surprise. Tan Sri (Michelle) was given a short list of organisations as you know she’s well acquainted with international development organisations based in Malaysia.

“Based on that list and the work SRGC has been doing in empowering young women and girls through sports and Safe Sport, we found ourselves shortlisted and selected.

“One thing led to another, and here we are,” Sarina said during an interview at the Universiti Malaya Alumni Association (Paum) Clubhouse.

In an exclusive interview with Scoop Sports, Sarina, along with her students and their parents, delved into the profound impact of this generous contribution. – December 26, 2023
