Sri Aman cops fine Kembara driver for not letting ambulance pass in emergency

Police started to trace culprit in viral video after coming across it yesterday, chief says

KUCHING – A man was fined by the police after he had refused to give way to an ambulance at KM6 of Jalan Sri Aman-Kuching.

The incident was caught on video which has been widely shared on social media.

Sri Aman police chief Mathew Manggie said police came across the footage at around 3pm yesterday, and started to trace who the driver was.

“In the video, it can be seen that the driver refused to make way for the ambulance, which was rushing amid a medical emergency,” said Mathew in a statement.

He added that the offender was seen driving a Perodua Kembara at the time of the incident.

“Please give priority or make way for vehicles such as ambulances, fire trucks or police cars, especially in situations of emergency.” – January 6, 2024
