I’ll even meet Ramasamy, but he’s scared: Dr Mahathir

Ex-PM chides former DAP man’s response over his invite to unity minister following ‘disloyal Indians and Chinese’ remark

KUALA LUMPUR – The verbal sparring continues as former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad chides nemesis P. Ramasamy, saying that the former DAP man is scared to meet him.

Dr Mahathir claimed that Ramasamy “is afraid that his racism would be proven” and does not want the former prime minister to meet Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang.

“I am prepared to meet him even. But he is scared,” said Dr Mahathir, in reference to Ramasamy.

Dr Mahathir had invited Aaron to meet after the unity minister called him out for his “disloyal Indians and Chinese” remark made during an interview with a South Indian satellite TV channel.

However, the invite was met with sarcasm by Ramasamy, who said Aaron would most probably get a monologue, not a dialogue.

“Mahathir, given his vast political experience, thinks that he knows the answers as to what ails the Malaysian society.

“I think the meeting will be one in which Mahathir will be doing the talking with Aaron listening. In brief, it would not be a dialogue, but a monologue,” said Ramasamy yesterday.

Dr Mahathir has come under repeated fire for his “disloyal” remarks, with some quarters accusing him of desperately trying to stay relevant. – January 19, 2024
