Malaysia scores 90% on Coldplay’s Xyloband leaderboard

High return rate demonstrates fans’ enthusiastic support for British rock band's green initiative

KUALA LUMPUR – Coldplay fans in Malaysia have scored a xyloband return rate of 90% – among the highest countries to do so – as the bestselling band continues its Music of the Spheres world tour this year.

Instagram page ColdplayMalaysia shared that the high return rate pointed to fans being supportive of the band’s green efforts.

“Congratulations, Coldplay fans Malaysia,” it said in the caption, followed by a flame emoji and the Malaysian flag.

So far, Tokyo tops the leaderboard with 97%, followed by Copenhagen (96%), Buenos Aires (94%), Kaohsiung (93%) and Perth (90%).

Below Malaysia are Gothenburg (85%), Amsterdam (82%), Berlin (80%) and Jakarta at 77%.

The vibrant LED wristbands are used to turn the stadium concerts into a visual symphony of pulsating lights.

The world tour with Chris Martin, Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman and Will Champion that started in March last year picks up again in the Philippines on January 20, Singapore (January 23, 24, 26, 27, 30, 31) and Bangkok (February 3 and 4).

Kuala Lumpur was the band’s last stop before the year ended, with 85,000 concertgoers having a great time despite grouses from certain conservative circles. – January 20, 2024
