KUALA LUMPUR – Xing Xing, a male giant panda, was spotted leisurely enjoying bamboo at the Giant Panda Conservation Centre in Zoo Negara. Xing Xing, along with his partner Liang Liang, has been on loan from the Chinese government since May 2014, marking the 40th anniversary of bilateral relations between Malaysia and China.

Earlier today, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said Malaysia would contact the Chinese government to see if it could extend the terms of the giant panda loan agreement, which is set to expire this year.

He is optimistic that the Chinese government will give due consideration to the proposal, as both countries have established strong and enduring diplomatic relations over the years. – January 27, 2024
