Former Kedah boss passes away after complications from a stroke

KUALA LUMPUR – Former Kedah Darul Aman coach Azraai Khor Abdullah has died at noon today due to complications from a stroke.

He is best known to Canaries fans as the man who brought them the double treble by sweeping all three domestic trophies in successive seasons.

Azraai won the FA Cup, the Super League and the Malaysia Cup in the 2006/2007 and 2007/2008 seasons, cementing Kedah’s dominance in Malaysian club football during the noughties. 

The news of Azraai’s passing was shared by his son, Firdaus Zainuddin, on Facebook.

Earlier it was understood that the football legend was rushed to hospital after suffering a stroke.

Azraai was initially said to have still been in critical condition before it was confirmed that he had passed away.

Kedah youth and sports executive councillor Radhi Mat Din also shared the news in a post on his Facebook page.

“I received news that national and Kedah football legend Azraai Khor Abdullah has passed away today.

“I send my condolences to his family. May his soul find its place with those with good deen. Al-Fatihah.

Azraai was 71-years-old at the time of his passing. – February 8, 2024
