KUALA LUMPUR – A 64-year-old Chinese temple in Jalan Genuang, Segamat here caught fire last night.

Ci Kuang Ting temple – said to be one of the oldest temples in the area – sustained damage to approximately 6% of its front area and roof during the 8.25pm incident.

A Fire and Rescue Department spokesperson from the Bandar Baru Segamat station operations centre said that a team of 10 members from the station responded promptly, reaching the location within 10 minutes of the emergency call.

No casualties were reported in the aftermath of the fire, which involved religious ritual paraphernalia, the department said in a statement.

The cause of the incident is currently under investigation.
