Hassan Abdul Karim to inquire about government's efforts to address concerns of 35% of EPF contributors aged 45 with retirement savings less than RM10,000

8:29 AM MYT

KUALA LUMPUR – The decline in the value of the ringgit and retirees’ savings in the Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) are expected to be the focus of today’s question-and-answer session in the Dewan Rakyat.

According to the Order Paper on the Parliament’s official website, Lim Guan Eng (Bagan-PH) will raise the issue of the depreciating ringgit value with the finance minister during Minister’s Question Time.

Hassan Abdul Karim (Pasir Gudang-PH) will question the government’s efforts to address the situation in which 35% of EPF contributors aged 45 have retirement savings of less than RM10,000.

Following the question-and-answer session, the Dewan Rakyat session will continue with the debate on the royal address by Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim, delivered at the opening of the Parliament sitting last Monday.

According to the calendar on the Parliament’s official website, this Dewan Rakyat sitting will last 19 days, beginning with the debate on the royal address on February 27 to March 7, followed by four days of responses from the relevant ministries on March 11.

This will be followed by the tabling and debate of several bills and other government matters from March 18 to 27. – February 29, 2024
