KUALA LUMPUR – National men’s doubles pair Choong Hon Jian-Muhammad Haikal Nazri bagged their third title together as a pair at the Super 300 Orleans Masters tonight.

Malaysia’s world number 40 pair brushed aside the challenge of Indonesia’s Sabar Karyaman Gutama-Muhammad Reza Pahlevi Isfahani 21-15, 18-21, 21-14 in 53 minutes at the Palais des Sports.

They took home US$16,590 (RM78,047.72) in prize money for the win.

This is the duo’s third title together since being paired up together in August and fourth final appearance having made it to the Indonesia Masters, Syed Modi International and Guwahati Masters all last year.

They lost the Indonesia Masters title to Japanese pair Kenya Mitsuhashi-Hiroki Okamura, but the rising pair had a fruitful outing in India winning the Syed Modi International and the Guwahati Masters.

Hon Jian-Haikal will next head to the Super 300 Swiss Open starting Tuesday. — March 17, 2024
