Top cop says possibility remains two or three others worked with apprehended Israeli

9:15 PM MYT

KUALA LUMPUR – Police are investigating whether the Israeli man who was apprehended at a hotel in Jalan Ampang last Wednesday entered Malaysia by himself or with other individuals.

Speaking to Scoop, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said that the probe is based on the discovery of six guns and hundreds of bullets in the man’s possession.

“Is it possible that two or three other people were together with the man? Anything is a possibility,” he said when contacted today.

Earlier today, Razarudin confirmed with Scoop that two locals, aged 42 and 40, were arrested by officers and members of the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department, as well as the Selangor police force yesterday, on suspicion of supplying firearms to the Israeli man

The duo were arrested at about 7.30pm last night in Kuala Selangor before being taken to their residence, where a gun was found in a backpack in their car.

The couple also admitted to purchasing the firearm from Thailand, Razarudin said.

During a press conference yesterday, Razarudin said that the investigation into the 38-year-old Israeli suspect revealed that he had entered Malaysia on March 12 via the Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

When questioned, the suspect initially presented a French passport before revealing an Israeli passport.

Razarudin also said the suspect claimed to have come to Malaysia with the intention of locating and killing another Israeli citizen due to a family-related matter. – March 30, 2024
