Anyone still fasting today? Woman claims Aidilfitri should be celebrated tomorrow

Facebook user cites Prophet Muhammad’s command to fast for a full 30 days

3:05 PM MYT

KUALA LUMPUR – While most Muslims in Malaysia are celebrating Aidilfitri today, as announced by the Keeper of the Rulers’ Seal Tan Sri Syed Danial Syed Ahmad last night, there are a few who have a differing opinion.

A woman, via a Facebook post, claims she will be fasting for a full 30 days and will celebrate Hari Raya tomorrow.

Her status, which read “Alhamdulillah, we will fulfil the full 30 days fast with confidence. PD (Port Dickson), Perlis, is only visible through a high-powered telescope and not with the naked eye,” has been widely shared across various social media platforms.

She also warned that “disobedient followers” of Prophet Muhammad should be prepared to “answer to Allah SWT later,” citing the Prophet’s command to observe Ramadan for 30 days.

“Those who still doubt but seek the truth should heed the lecture of scholar Tuan Guru Baba Ghazali Sekam al Fathoni al Azhari,” she said.

The woman also ended her post with a note that said: “30 Ramadan 1445H.”

Meanwhile, a netizen also commented that there were still individuals who wished to complete their 30-day fast for Ramadan 1445H and that the decision was up to them.

“As far as the disagreement regarding scientific differences is concerned in Malaysia, at least it is under control with the presence of a firm authority governing the country.

“This authority, by the grace of God, should be able to control the extreme attitudes of conflicting parties,” they said. – April 10, 2024
