KUALA LUMPUR – Onexox TKKR Racing is gearing up to deliver an impressive performance ahead of the second leg of the Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC) at the Zhuhai International Circuit, China, this weekend.

The Seremban-based team not only have found a replacement for Markus Reiterberger, who competed in the Asian Superbike 1000 class, but they’ve also managed to acquire a brand-new engine for this weekend’s races.

During the first round of races in Buriram, Thailand, last March, the team faced setbacks when two engines used by Markus broke down, necessitating cautious manoeuvres throughout the practice and qualifying sessions.

Stepping into Markus’ shoes, Japanese rider Sho Nishimura will join forces with the 2019 Asian champion, Azlan Shah Kamaruzaman, to fill the void.

Onexox TKKR team manager, Adam Fiqrie expressed relief at this development, as they’re still in need of sufficient funds to complete all six rounds of the ARRC this season.

“We’ve managed to secure a new engine for Azlan, and fortunately, we still have another engine that Sho (Nishimura) can utilise.

“While my preference would be for Azlan to clinch victory in one of the races this weekend, we’re committed to securing a front position and giving our best effort,” said Adam.

He added that Sho is no stranger to the Onexox TKRR team, having contributed last season in the Super Sport 600 class.

“While Markus couldn’t join us this time due to scheduling conflicts, Sho approached us expressing his eagerness to race, and we’re delighted to provide him with this opportunity.

“I’m optimistic that all our collective efforts will yield positive outcomes,” he added.

Despite encountering challenges, the Onexox TKKR team remains determined to make a significant impact in the upcoming races, building on Azlan’s commendable performance in the first race in Buriram last month. – April 18, 2024
