KUALA LUMPUR – Regent of Johor Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, who owns Johor Darul Ta’zim, engaged in discussions with former World Player of the Year, Luis Figo, in Spain yesterday.

Tunku Ismail and the 2000 Ballon d’Or winner delved into various aspects concerning football growth and development during their meeting.

Figo, renowned for his stints with Real Madrid and Barcelona, currently serves as a football advisor and ambassador at Europe’s governing body, UEFA.

“His Royal Highness also invited Figo to Johor Bahru to further discuss how they can benefit football in Johor and Malaysia,” said JDT in a post on the club’s Facebook page.

This is not the first time that Tunku Ismail has met with European football greats. In 2015, he went on a tour across the continent and held meetings with Madrid, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Valencia to establish cooperation between the 10-time Super League champions and the European giants. – April 22, 2024
