10 dead after two army helicopters crashed in Lumut: Perak top cop

Viral video shows seven choppers flying together before two collided mid-air

KUALA LUMPUR – Two helicopters reportedly crashed in Lumut, Perak this morning. 

Perak police chief Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri, when contacted, confirmed the crash and that 10 people were killed.

Speaking to Scoop, he said that the police are currently gathering information about the incident.

The air crash allegedly involved helicopters belonging to the Malaysian Armed Forces.

A video that went viral today showed about seven helicopters flying together in the airspace before two collided mid-air and crashed.

It is believed the crash happened during a training exercise for the 90th Royal Malaysian Navy Day celebration next week.

The choppers were believed to have departed from Padang Sitiawan before crashing at the Lumut Naval Base. – April 23, 2024
