Peace of mind: Chery Auto Malaysia offers thorough vehicle inspections for customers

This comes after several reports of suspected defects on brake, axel of Omoda 5 SUVs

KUALA LUMPUR – Chery Auto Malaysia is extending an offer to all its customers to opt for a comprehensive vehicle inspection, accompanied by a detailed inspection report, regardless of their car models.

This initiative follows recent incidents involving the Omoda 5 model, where concerns have been raised regarding malfunctioning brakes and damaged axles.

“Chery is committed to providing safe and reliable transportation solutions, and we are dedicated to ensuring that all our vehicles meet the highest safest standards. 

“For additional peace of mind, all customers who are concerned can book an appointment at their nearest service centre for a thorough inspection. 

“All inspected vehicles will receive a full report. We are committed to transparency and assure you of our unwavering dedication to quality and satisfaction. Our sincere thanks to our customers and followers for your patience. 

“In addition, and for added assurance to all Chery and Omoda customers who may have questions, our customer careline can be contacted at +603-27717070,” said the statement issued today. 

Recently, an Omoda 5 user named Stephanie took to Facebook to raise concerns about her vehicle’s rear axle, which appeared to have snapped and caused damage while she was navigating a bend on the road.

An axle, a critical vehicle component, is a rod or shaft that connects a pair of wheels to propel them and maintain the position of the wheels relative to each other.

Following the incident, she reported that her car had been towed to Chery’s Balakong service centre and was awaiting a full investigation into the issue.

In response, Chery confirmed that it had been in contact with the user.

“The vehicle has been brought to our service centre for a thorough inspection and investigation. 

“As a proactive measure and in line with our safety protocols, Chery is currently reaching out to the affected customers.”

Earlier this month, another Omoda 5 user gained attention for expressing frustration over her car’s faulty brakes. Her frustration escalated when the issues were not adequately addressed by the company’s service centre, despite numerous attempts for clarification.

However, Chery and Puspakom resolved the issue on April 6, stating that an investigation revealed the vehicle to be safe and the brake system to be in good condition, as confirmed by Puspakom’s test results. – April 29, 2024
