This follows Mohd Shukri Ramli’s grilling by MACC at agency headquarters this morning

3:09 PM MYT

KUALA LUMPUR – Perlis Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli has not been detained by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and was allowed to go home.

This was posted on his official Facebook page earlier today.

This is following MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki’s statement that the state PAS chief was present at the agency’s headquarters in Putrajaya this morning.

Earlier, Azam was reported as saying that Shukri was called to assist in the ongoing investigation into his son involving alleged false claims.

In the post, Shukri said he would continue to cooperate with the MACC in the investigation.

“Alhamdulillah, I’ve completed recording my statement. As I said before, I will give my full cooperation to the MACC throughout its investigations.

“There’s no need to worry, insya-Allah. Thank you for your supportive comments and prayers. May these well wishes be returned to you,” he said.

Meanwhile, according to Azam, Shukri was detained at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya at 10am this morning.

He said that the MACC had also started an investigation into the menteri besar for alleged abuse of power.

An MACC source revealed that the agency would issue an official statement on the matter.

It was previously reported that the MACC had detained Shukri’s son to facilitate investigations in relation to document forgery and false claim submissions totaling RM600,000 over the past two years. – April 30, 2024
