Muhyiddin’s WhatsApp account hacked

Perikatan chief’s office says to disregard any messages from ex-PM’s number after 12pm today

5:16 PM MYT

KUALA LUMPUR – Former prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s WhatsApp account has been hacked since 12pm today.

In a Facebook post, the Perikatan Nasional chairman’s office urged recipients to disregard any messages from his number after the mentioned time.

“Muhyiddin’s WhatsApp account was hacked at noon today.

“We request those who receive messages from the account after this time not to entertain and ignore them.

“A police report will be filed, and we are currently working to reactivate his WhatsApp account,” the statement read.

Muhyiddin, the country’s eighth prime minister, resigned on August 16, 2021 – after only 17 months in power – amid infighting within his coalition and a resurgent Covid-19 pandemic.

He is Malaysia’s second-shortest-serving prime minister, following Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, who resigned as the country’s ninth prime minister after serving for just 15 months.

Muhyiddin was sworn in on March 1, 2020, after the collapse of the Pakatan Harapan government. – May 6, 2024
