PUTRAJAYA – The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has not opened any investigations into allegations of bribery involving Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming.

However, its chief commissioner, Tan Sri Azam Baki, said MACC’s complaint centre has taken note of the claims of corruption that have been reported in the media.

“This centre will then decide if there are any elements of corruption.”

Nga was accused of vote-buying after he announced the RM5.21 million allocation for Hulu Selangor Municipal Council last month to improve public infrastructure, which included Kuala Kubu Baharu.

Following this, Perikatan Nasional urged the Election Commission to investigate and take action against Nga for announcing “goodies” for the people before the by-election, which violates election rules.

Earlier today, Election Commission (EC) chairman Tan Sri Abdul Ghani Salleh was reported as saying that the commission has yet to summon the DAP leader for an explanation.

He said the new chairman will assume responsibility and address the issue as his tenure concludes this week.

“Nga Kor Ming has not been called yet. We will leave it to the next EC leadership,” he said after overseeing the early voting process at the police academy in Kuala Kubu Baharu today. – May 7, 2024
