SHAH ALAM – Selangor FC forward Faisal Halim has made progress in his recovery four days after being admitted to intensive care at a private hospital in Shah Alam.

Selangor FC board member Datuk Seri Shahril Mokhtar shared that following Faisal’s second surgery late yesterday evening, he was now able to consume food, albeit only a soft diet.

Even more encouragingly, the 26-year-old footballer has also started engaging in light exercise.

“Alhamdulillah, the surgery took place last night for three hours, and the medical experts have informed me that the outcome is very, very positive,” said Shahril.

“When I say positive, it means he can now eat. He has also started to eagerly participate in football exercise routines, so for me, this is something to be proud of because he has great determination.

“However, it must be remembered that this is his second surgery, and I understand there will be further surgeries, the third and fourth, all of which will be done in stages.”

Shahril was met after accompanying Crown Prince of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah, who visited Faisal today.

“Actually, at this time, no visitors are allowed because the matter is very sensitive, and that’s why he is placed in the ICU. Even His Highness the crown prince could only visit from afar.

“The crown prince gave him words of encouragement, including from the sultan of Selangor, as well as from the players and officials, and also the entire Malaysian public is behind Faisal, and Faisal hears the support of all parties,” he added.

Faisal was the victim of an acid attack while out with his family on Sunday.

As a result of the attack, the Malaysia international was confirmed to have suffered fourth-degree burns to several parts of his body. – May 8, 2024
