KUALA LUMPUR – Two massive trees were uprooted after a downpour and damaged five parked cars opposite Island Hospital in Jalan Macalister, Penang this morning.

In a statement, Bagan Jermal Fire and Rescue Department said it received a distress call at 10.01am about the incident.

The trees also blocked road access as firefighters worked to clear the debris with the help of officers from the Civil Defence Force (Rela), Penang Island City Council (MBPP), Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), and the public.

No one was hurt in the incident.

Last Tuesday, a similar incident happened at Jalan Sultan Ismail here, where a massive tree fell during heavy rain, killing one person and injuring four others. – May 11, 2024
