Bus with 40 onboard crashes into car, swerves into ditch near Ipoh

Perak Fire Dept official confirms drivers of both vehicles, passengers are safe

KUALA LUMPUR – A bus carrying 40 passengers lost control and veered into a ditch after colliding with a car on the southbound lane at KM264.5 of the North-South Highway (PLUS) near Ipoh this morning.  

Perak Fire and Rescue Department senior operation commander Sharudi Muhamad Halil said he received an emergency call at 7.28am.  

However, he added that both the bus driver and 40 passengers, along with one person in the other car were unharmed. 

“There were no casualties in the incident. Firefighters conducted a rescue operation to save trapped victims and provided initial treatment to the injured,” he said in a statement. 

According to him, the victims were then transported to a hospital in Ipoh via two Emergency Medical Response Services (EMRS) units and an ambulance provided by the Health Ministry. 

He further said that 19 firefighters from Meru Raya and Kuala Kangsar fire stations were dispatched to the scene with two Fire Rescue Tandem and two EMRS vehicles. – May 12, 2024
