KUALA LUMPUR – Seven individuals, including a Singaporean, have been remanded for a week starting today until May 24 to assist in the investigation into the attack on the Ulu Tiram police station in Johor Bahru yesterday.

The remand order against the seven suspects, ages 19 to 62, was issued by magistrate Hidayatul Syuhada Shamsuddin at the Seri Alam district police headquarters.

This will enable investigations to be carried out under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

All the suspects are being represented by attorneys from the National Legal Aid Foundation (YBGK), including lawyers Bustaman Menon Abdul Hamid Menon, Sulaiman Zamani, and Muhammad Zahier Rosli, except for the Singaporean suspect.

Those remanded include five members of the suspect’s family and two students from local higher education institutions.

Meanwhile, the bodies of constable Ahmad Azza Fahmi Azhar, 22, and constable Muhamad Syafiq Ahmad Said, 24, who were killed in the attack, are expected to be claimed by their relatives today to be buried in their respective hometowns.

The remains of Ahmad Azza Fahmi will be buried in Kampung Poh, Bidor, while Muhamad Syafiq will be buried in Kuantan, Pahang.

In the 2.45am incident yesterday, Ahmad Azza Fahmi and Muhamad Syafiq died after they were attacked by a man armed with a machete, who then seized two firearms from the policemen.
