KUALA LUMPUR – Police have recorded statements from 15 individuals who recently used a gas stove to cook noodles at a petrol station in Genting Highlands, Pahang recently.

Pahang police chief Datuk Yahaya Othman said statements were taken from 10 men and five women who presented themselves at the Bentong district police headquarters yesterday.

“Police arrested them right after their arrival at the Bentong (police headquarters). They were released on police bail after their statements were recorded.

“The investigation paper is being finalised, and police will refer it to the deputy public prosecutor for further instructions,” he said when contacted by Scoop today.

Police had opened an investigation paper regarding a group of individuals who were captured in a video on social media cooking at a petrol station in Genting Highlands.

Last Wednesday, Bentong police chief Zaiham Mohd Kahar said police received a report about a viral video clip on the incident, believed to have been an activity by a group of vehicle owners.

The incident raised public concern over safety and the violation of standard operating procedures at petrol stations. – May 20, 2024
