The Boeing 777-330ER flying in from London was forced to land in Suvarnabhumi Airport, Bangkok at 3.45pm local time

KUALA LUMPUR – A Singapore Airlines flight from London Heathrow airport to Singapore was forced to make an emergency landing in Bangkok after encountering severe turbulence that led to one death and several injuries. 

According to a statement by Singapore Airlines on Facebook, the Boeing 777-330ER was forced to land in Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok at 3.45pm local time. 

There were a total of 211 passengers and 18 crew members on board. 

“Singapore Airlines flight SQ321, operating from London (Heathrow) to Singapore on May 20 encountered severe turbulence en-route. 

“The aircraft diverted to Bangkok and landed at 1545hrs (3.45pm) local time on 21 May 2024.

“We can confirm that there are injuries and one fatality on board the Boeing 777-300ER,” the statement said.

Singapore Airlines has yet to confirm the nationality of the deceased passenger and whether the individual was a passenger or a crew member.

According to data from FlightRadar24, the SQ312 flight began reducing altitude 35km off the coast of Asin, Myannmar. – May 21, 2024

Scoop earlier reported that two people died, quoting a report based on a statement by a hospital source.

Only one person died on Singapore Airlines flight SQ 321 from Heathrow. The Thai hospital source was confused.

The man was identified as a 73-year-old Briton.
