KUALA LUMPUR – Do the people need to resubmit their personal data each time the government intends to provide financial aid or subsidies?
The move to submit another round of information to apply for the RM200 monthly diesel subsidy under the Budi Madani umbrella is seen as troublesome for the public, said MCA vice-president Datuk Lawrence Low.
He also questioned the use of the Central Database Hub (Padu), which months ago drew criticism over the push to collect personal data.
“How many times does the government want to collect data of Malaysians? Is the information in Padu insufficient for the Budi Madani programme?
“Also, is RM200 monthly sufficient? How is this determined? How does the government ensure fairness between the individual and agri-commodity categories?”
Low, in a statement, added that while it was good that the government was implementing targeted subsidies, it should be done better so as to not further burden the people.
Individuals, small-scale farmers and smallholder farmers from the B40 and M40 groups in Peninsular Malaysia can apply for the RM200 cash aid today at https://budimadani.gov.my/.
Individual private diesel vehicle owners can submit applications under the individual category while small-scale farmers and smallholders can submit applications under the agri-commodity category.
The individual recipient must be a Malaysian citizen who owns a private diesel vehicle under 10 years of age and registered with the Road Transport Department, excluding luxury vehicles. – May 28, 2024
