Bodyguard assault case resolved: victim cites misunderstanding, wishes to move on

Victim files second police report to close issue, requesting no further action

3:56 PM MYT

KUALA LUMPUR – The disabled victim of an alleged assault by a bodyguard of a VIP has filed a second police report, saying that the matter has been settled and that he does not wish to prolong the issue.

The second report was lodged at the Kuala Lumpur police headquarters at 9.59pm last night, according to KL police chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa.

The first police report was lodged by the driver on May 28 at 1pm.

“The incident was due to a misunderstanding of the instructions to move the vehicle. This case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code,” he added in a statement.

Earlier, Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain confirmed a police report had been lodged on the incident and that an investigation paper had been opened under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt.

“I can say that an investigation paper is open, there have not been any arrests,” he told a press conference at Bukit Aman headquarters today.

“We do not know why (the victim) was hit. Even he did not know why he was hit.”

Suhaily declined to comment when asked if the victim was still receiving treatment.

The offence of causing injury is under Section 323 of the Penal Code and carries a maximum two years’ jail or fine of up to RM2,000, or both. – May 29, 2024
