Keep enough water: Air Selangor reminds of scheduled water cuts from June 5

Restoration to start in stages from 3am June 6 with full restoration aimed for 12pm June 7, involving Petaling, Klang, Shah Alam, Gombak, Kuala Lumpur, Hulu Selangor, Kuala Selangor

6:24 PM MYT

KUALA LUMPUR – Air Selangor has reminded consumers to store water ahead of the implementation of asset maintenance and replacement works at the Sg Selangor Phase 1 Water Treatment Plant (SSP1 WTP), which will result in a scheduled temporary water supply disruption.

In a statement, the utility company said the maintenance work is set to commence at 9am on June 5 (Wednesday) and is expected to be completed by 7pm the same day.

The affected areas include Petaling, Klang, Shah Alam, Gombak, Kuala Lumpur, Hulu Selangor, and Kuala Selangor.

It said water supply is anticipated to be restored in stages starting around 3am on June 6 (Thursday), once the maintenance work is completed and the main water supply distribution system stabilises.

Air Selangor estimates that approximately 20% of the water supply will be restored by 3pm on June 6 and 90% by 3am on June 7, 2024 (Friday).

Full restoration of the water supply is expected by 12pm on June 7, 2024.

The duration of the water supply disruption and the recovery time will vary based on the location of the consumer’s premises and the water pressure in the distribution system.

“Air Selangor will be mobilising water tankers to the affected areas by giving priority to critical premises such as hospitals, clinics, dialysis centres, and funeral homes,” it said.

“Therefore, Air Selangor would like to advise the affected consumers to keep adequate water supply and use water prudently during this period of scheduled water supply disruption.”

Commercial customers can purchase treated water at Air Selangor’s customer service counters in all regions and use their water tankers at designated local water filling stations in Braemar Estate (Hulu Langat), Taman Gemilang Dengkil and Pekan Salak (Sepang), and Taman Banting Baru (Kuala Langat).

For ongoing updates, consumers can visit Air Selangor’s official communication channels, including their website waterupdates.airselangor.com, the Air Selangor app, Facebook, Instagram, and X, or contact the Air Selangor Call Centre at 15300. – May 30, 2024
