KUALA LUMPUR – The younger brother of murdered Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin, the 6-year-old autistic boy, has been placed in the care of the Selangor Welfare Department.

Zayn’s brother was also taken to a hospital for a check-up, according to Harian Metro

This matter was confirmed by Selangor Welfare Department director Azmir Kassim, who said there was a need for the department to care for the child.

Yesterday, Zayn’s father, Zaim Ikhwan Zahari, and mother, Ismanira Abdul Manaf, were jointly charged in the session court here with child neglect.

Both parents pleaded not guilty to the charge framed under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 and read with Section 34 of the Penal Code.

On December 6, last year, the boy’s body was found at a stream near Idaman Apartments, Damansara Damai, some 200m from his house.

A post-mortem indicated that the child was killed, based on injuries found on his neck and body.

Zayn’s grandparents were also arrested but were released on bail the next day. – June 14, 2024
