Royal watchers delighted: Princess Catherine to join family at Trooping the Colour parade

Accompanied by her children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, Prince Louis, this is her first public engagement since Christmas last December

KUALA LUMPUR – Catherine, Princess of Wales, is expected to delight royal watchers as she confirmed that she will be attending today’s Trooping the Colour military parade in central London.

She tweeted on the official X account, @KensingtonRoyal, that she is “looking forward to attending The King’s Birthday Parade this weekend with my family and hope to join a few public engagements over the summer”.

However, she remained cautious as she is undergoing cancer treatment, saying, “I am not out of the woods yet.”

The 42-year-old princess, who is one of the world’s most-photographed women, has not been seen at a public engagement since a Christmas Day service last December, only to reveal in March that she was receiving chemotherapy.

Her absence has further fuelled speculation about her health and whereabouts.

Her lengthy tweet also highlighted her health battles, as she shared that she has had good and bad days during her treatment.

“On those bad days, you feel weak, tired and you have to give in to your body resting. But on the good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling well.

“My treatment is ongoing and will be for a few more months. On the days I feel well enough, it is a joy to engage with school life, spend personal time on the things that give me energy and positivity, as well as start to do a little work from home.

“I am learning how to be patient, especially with uncertainty. Taking each day as it comes, listening to my body, and allowing myself to take this much needed time to heal.”

Today, Catherine is expected to be with her children – Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis – in a carriage down The Mall from Buckingham Palace to Horse Guards Parade.

They will watch the parade before returning to the palace for the infamous balcony appearance at Buckingham Palace.

Trooping the Colour marks the British sovereign’s official birthday and is a minutely choreographed military tradition dating back more than two centuries.

Previously, King Charles was given the green light to resume public duties in April after doctors were “very encouraged” by his progress since his cancer diagnosis. – June 15, 2024
