Prolintas vows full cooperation amid MACC’s highway bribery probe

Company confirms detention of its CEO, two senior executives in connection with alleged bribery involving construction projects

KUALA LUMPUR – Highway concessionaire Prolintas Group has confirmed the arrests of its chief executive officer and two senior executives by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.

In a statement today, the company said it will fully cooperate and work closely with authorities to assist in the investigation.

“We have been informed that some of our employees have been detained by the MACC to assist with ongoing investigations related to construction projects.

“Prolintas continues to be committed to maintaining the highest levels of integrity and corporate governance,” it said briefly.

Yesterday, MACC detained eight individuals, including a CEO and two senior executives of a highway concession company, for allegedly soliciting and receiving bribes related to the construction of two highway projects in the Klang Valley worth over RM1.6 billion.

The CEO, who holds the title of Datuk, along with the two senior executives, have been remanded for four days until Friday, while five other individuals, who are owners of another company, have been remanded for three days until Thursday.

According to sources, the three suspects from the concession company are two men and one woman, while the company owners consist of five men aged in their 40s and 50s.

All suspects were detained during Ops Lintas between 8pm and 11pm on Monday while they were present to give statements at MACC headquarters. – June 26, 2024
