GEORGE TOWN – Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow has extended the medical leave for Deputy Chief Minister II Jagdeep Singh Deo by four days.

Jagdeep was earlier given an 11-day medical leave by the chief minister, which ended today.

Chow said the Datok Keramat assemblyman informed him that he is in a better condition, but has applied for additional leave until August 9 following advice from his doctors.

“I have agreed to extend his leave until August 9 so that Jagdeep can resume his necessary treatments,” said the chief minister in a statement.

Last month, Jagdeep was reported as saying that he had taken an 11-day medical leave starting July 22 for an ankle problem and psoriasis, a skin condition that causes flaky patches to appear across the body.

The deputy chief minister had informed Chow on July 19 about the medical treatments and the possible surgery that he needed to undergo for his left ankle. – August 5, 2024
