GISB: five suspected members nabbed en route to Thailand, two motorhomes seized

KUALA LUMPUR – Five men, who are suspected to have links with Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISBH), were arrested at the Bukit Kayu Hitam border heading towards Thailand at about 6pm yesterday.

Police also seized two motorhomes bearing the company’s logo with the registration numbers X31337 and X37313, Bernama reported.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain attributed the arrests and seizures to the investigation undertaken by the North Zone Border Intelligence Unit.

It is believed that one individual nabbed is a company leader’s son. 

“Observations found that the vehicles had moved to the Bukit Kayu Hitam Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security Complex (ICQS) heading to Thailand. 

“Checks carried out with the help of the Kedah Criminal Investigation Department resulted in the vehicles being seized and a Myvi car with five men aged 28 to 41 arrested.

“Those arrested and the seizures will be taken to the Kubang Pasu District Police Headquarters for further action,” he told Bernama last night.

Yesterday, a member of the group pleaded not guilty in the magistrates’ court to a charge of making criminal threats against a woman over a police report she had filed.

Mohamad Riza Makar, 39, who has three wives and 10 children, is alleged to have threatened the woman by saying, “We’ll wait, we know where your house, husband and family are.”

Razarudin is urging other GISBH members who had lodged reports but withdrawn them to come forward and help police in their investigations into the company, which is linked to care homes where sexual and physical abuse of children allegedly took place.

Police on September 11 raided 20 in Selangor and Negri Sembilan homes and rescued 402 children who showed signs of various forms of abuse.

Health screening of 392 children rescued from GISBH homes during Op Global found that they suffered physical and emotional abuse as well as labour exploitation, the IGP said previously. – September 19, 2024
