2024 London Open: Malaysia’s dancesport stars strike gold

Cherry Yeo and Madeleine Lau shine with top Performances, boosting world rankings

KUALA LUMPUR — The national dancesport team shone brightly at the 2024 London Open Championship, securing two gold medals in a captivating display yesterday.

Cherry Yeo claimed gold in the adult women’s Latin solo event, while Madeleine Lau triumphed in the junior women’s Latin solo category, the Malaysia DanceSport Federation (MYDF) stated in a statement.

Both athletes demonstrated exceptional skill and stage presence, impressing the judges and clinching the top spots in their respective divisions.

Cherry’s victory elevated her to second in the world rankings for the adult women’s Latin solo category, while Madeleine now holds the fourth position in the junior women’s Latin solo rankings.

“The success of the national team would not have been possible without the support, dedication and expert guidance of coaches Chua Zjen Fong and Evon Chong from MY DanceSport Academy,” said MYDF in a statement today.

The championship saw participation from athletes representing 25 countries. — September 24, 2024
