Ajith Kumar launches racing team, set to compete in global events

The popular Tamil actor and professional racer expands his motorsport career with ‘Ajith Kumar Racing,’ aiming to support young talent in international racing series

KUALA LUMPUR – Popular Tamil actor and professional racer Ajith Kumar has officially launched his own racing team, ‘Ajith Kumar Racing’ as announced by his manager, Suresh Chandra, yesterday.

In an Instagram post, Chandra revealed that Ajith recently tested the Ferrari 488 Evo Challenge at the Dubai Autodrome. 

Along with pictures of the actor behind the wheel, Chandra shared details about the new team, which will compete in several racing series in the coming months.

“We are proud to announce the beginning of an exciting new adventure. The new racing team will be engaged in various international racing series, starting with the competitive 24H Series European Championship in the Porsche 992 GT3 Cup category.

“One of our main goals is to help talented young drivers by providing them with a fully supported racing programme,” the post read.

The team’s official driver is Belgian racer Fabian Duffieux.

Ajith, a passionate racer, has previously competed in the Asian Formula BMW Championship and British Formula 3, earning podium finishes at Donington Park and Knockhill circuits.

The 53-year-old actor has also raced in the FIA Formula 2 Championship. Having started with motorcycle racing, Ajith also took part in the Indian Motorcycle Racing Championship.

Ajith also founded Venus Motorcycles, which offers motorcycle touring and training. 

It was reported that the company plans to launch its first on-road training session for women this month, guided by seasoned motorcyclists and trainers.

On the film front, Ajith is currently shooting for Vidaa Muyarchi. The film, directed by Magizh Thirumeni, features Trisha Krishnan, Regina Cassandra, and Arjun Sarja in prominent roles.

He will also appear in Good Bad Ugly, directed by Adhik Ravichandran.

Ajith reportedly earns INR 125–165 crores (RM61 million to 81 million) per film. — September 28, 2024
