KUALA LUMPUR – Popular streaming service Netflix has increased its subscription prices in Malaysia.

Checks on the app show that its most expensive Premium plan saw a 14% hike from RM55 per month to RM62.9, while its cheapest Mobile plan increased from RM17 to RM18.90.

Meanwhile, their Basic plan saw an RM1.90 increase to RM29.90 and their standard plan rose from RM45 to RM49.90.

The price to share your Standard and Premium plans with individuals outside of a household remains unchanged at RM13 per month, according to a SoyaCincau report.

Netflix previously amended their streaming in February 2023 when it reduced from RM35 per month to RM28.

According to a Tom’s Guide publication last month, there has been speculation that Netflix was planning a subscription price increase in various countries.

Another BBC report mentioned that Netflix began lifting their prices in Japan, certain parts of Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

Similarly, other content streaming platforms such as Disney+ Hotstar also increased their subscription prices in April. – November 14, 2024
