Road to Gold committee revamped with smaller lineup: Hannah

Youth and Sports Minister says streamlined committee is to maintain expertise and continuity in Malaysia’s Olympic gold medal pursuit

9:01 PM MYT

KUALA LUMPUR – The new lineup for the Road to Gold (RTG) Programme Committee will be announced next week.

It will feature a more streamlined structure while maintaining continuity and expertise to ensure Malaysia’s athletes are well-prepared for the Los Angeles 2028 (LA28) Olympics.

Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh said the first meeting of the new committee is scheduled to take place after Aidilfitri, where they will finalise the list of athletes eligible for additional facilities and support under the RTG programme.

“There will be new and returning names, but the key focus is continuity and expertise in developing our elite athletes. I don’t expect major changes, but we shall see.

“This committee will also operate on a smaller scale,” she told reporters after attending the Segambut Parliamentary Iftar event today.

However, Hannah assured that the restructuring will not bring any major surprises, reassuring all stakeholders that there is no cause for concern.

The RTG programme was launched to help Malaysia secure its first-ever Olympic gold medal by providing comprehensive support in training, facilities, recovery, and technical expertise.

Meanwhile, speaking about the Segambut Parliamentary Iftar event, Hannah said it was organised in collaboration with the Korean Society and was attended by the Minister and Consul General of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Malaysia, Lee Han-il. – March 23, 2025
