Govt taskforce revives 89 private housing projects worth RM6.48bil in two months

Housing ministry says efforts to restore sick and abandoned projects remain a top priority

1:35 PM MYT

PUTRAJAYA – The government’s Task Force on Sick and Abandoned Private Housing Projects (TFST) has successfully revived 89 private housing projects with a gross development value (GDV) of RM6.48 billion in the first two months of this year.

Deputy Minister of Housing and Local Government Datuk Aiman Athirah Sabu said that of the total, 82 sick private housing projects had obtained the Certificate of Completion and Compliance (CCC), while seven projects were back on track, Bernama reported.

She said that as of February 2025, TFST had identified and monitored 230 delayed private housing projects, 347 sick projects, and 116 abandoned projects, with the total GDV of these projects amounting to RM107.04 billion.

In a statement today, she said the Housing and Local Government Ministry (KPKT), through the National Housing Department, would continue to monitor the recovery of housing projects in detail, as it is an initiative approved by the Finance Ministry.

“KPKT is ready to collaborate with stakeholders and remains committed to addressing issues related to sick and abandoned projects nationwide to fulfil the ministry’s key agenda for the well-being of affected homebuyers,” she said.

Meanwhile, Aiman Athirah said that most of the project recoveries under the Budget 2023 Initiative, involving 13 projects, were expected to obtain the Certificate of Fitness for Occupation (CFO) or CCC this year. – March 26, 2025
