PKR swaps Kota Damansara candidate, to field Selangor youth chief

On eve of nomination day, Muhammad Izuan Kasim will be contesting seat instead of Aidi Amin Yazid

KUALA LUMPUR – Pakatan Harapan (PH) will field a new candidate for the Kota Damansara seat, just hours before nomination day.

Selangor PKR youth chief Muhammad Izuan Kasim confirmed that he will be the newest candidate for the state constituency, replacing Aidi Amin Yazid.

“The party has entrusted me to represent PKR and Harapan for Kota Damansara.

“God willing, I will do my best to meet with voters during the campaign period,” he told Scoop.

However, Izuan said he is unsure of the reasons behind the sudden swap, adding that he merely received a call informing him of the change this morning.

So far, Kota Damansara is expecting a three-cornered fight – between Perikatan Nasional’s Mohd Radzlan Jalaludin, Parti Sosialis Malaysia secretary-general Sivarajan Arumugam, and Izuan.

Meanwhile, Selangor Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said he would seek PH chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s views on the status of the Kota Damansara candidacy.

Amirudin was quoted as saying by Bernama that he did not know much about the request to change candidates for the constituency, and needed to speak with Anwar on the matter.

In the 2018 state polls, Shatiri Mansor secured the Kota Damansara seat under the PH ticket with 26,440 votes, defeating Barisan Nasional’s Halimaton Saadiah Bohan, who garnered 10,737. – July 28, 2023
